Cursors and pointers are small icons usually .cur files or .ani files and sometimes .bmp or .ico are also used which are suitable for customising your windows and Mac desktop mouse cursors and pointers.  these often come in desktop themes. you can change more than just your mouse arrow , for instance you can customise the waiting hour glass and spinning wheel cursors, even the cursor line used when typing text.
